چکیده

A continuous recording of landslide displacements is often required in order to better understand the complex relationship between the triggering factors and the dynamics of the movement. In this paper, we discuss the performance of the borehole wire extensometer and the interpretation of its results. The analysis for the case of a translational slide shows that the displacements measured with the wire extensometer are systematically smaller than the movements observed at the ground surface. A relationship between the wire readings and the horizontal component of the landslide movement has been established by means of three equations representing different stages of the wire displacement within the borehole. The applicability of these equations and the interpretation of the wire extensometer readings have been successfully checked at two landslide sites: Vallcebre in the eastern Pyrenees and Alverà in the Dolomites. © 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. Monitoring of the Vallcebre landslide, Eastern Pyrenees, Spain

In 1996 and 1997 a monitoring network was set up at the translational slide of Vallcebre. Fourteen boreholes were equipped with piezometers, wire extensometers and inclinometers. Since then groundwater levels changes and wire displacements have been automatically recorded every 20 minutes. Superficial displacements have been periodically measured with differential GPS. The monitoring network ha...

A new borehole wire extensometer with high accuracy and stability for observation of local geodynamic processes.

Very stable and reliable instruments with high accuracy are required in field measurements for continuous monitoring local geodynamic processes, such as tectonic movements, ground motions in landslide prone areas, etc. A sensitive borehole wire extensometer with low energy consumption was developed in the Geodetic and Geophysical Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences to observ...

Method of Landslide Measurement by Ground Based Lidar

Landslide is a phenomenon of mass movement of terrain. In order to prevent landslide, understanding the behavior of the landslide is important. The behavior of the landslide is usually measured by extensometer, inclinometer or GPS (global positioning system). These equipments are measuring some points or along the lines; it is difficult to measure the whole landslide area. Currently, it is expe...

The effects of wire diameter and an additional lateral wire on pin and tension-band fixation subjected to cyclic loads.

Despite reports of frequent complications, pin and tension- band wire remains the most common repair of simple olecranon fractures and osteotomies. A recent mechanical study found wire diameter to be the key determinant of pin and tension-band construct strength; models with 1.25-mm wire were much stronger than those with standard 1.0-mm wire exposed to single loads to failure. Additionally, fi...

Design of a Temperature-Compensated Induction Extensometer

By proper choice of materials, dimensions and circuit parameters, it is possible to design a linear displacement transducer, or extensometer, to have zero net thermal drift over any given temperature range. The chief limitation is the inability of wires and insulation to withstand very high temperatures. An extensometer has been designed and tested which could theoretically measure displacement...
